Stance David Robinson

The path David Robinson took to the NBA is an anomaly. He played little ball in high school, joining the team only during his senior year. Off the radar of college recruits and with no intention of playing pro ball, Robinson enrolled in the United States Naval Academy. At the school, his skills quickly progressed and he earned All-American honors, as well as his nickname—The Admiral. In the 1987 draft, the Spurs snagged him as the first overall pick. Although the team had to wait for Robinson to first complete his two year service commitment to the Navy, he made an immediate impact once on board. In addition to being a ten time NBA All-Star and an MVP, Robinson helped the Spurs snag two championships and he played on three Olympic teams—including the 1992 Dream Team. The NBA also named Robinson one of the fifty greatest players of all time. Thanks to Stance, you can salute The Admiral in style.
